Franschhoek Champagne Festival December 2011

3 & 4 DECEMBER 2011

Franschhoek, one of the very few "Postcard" towns I know of in South Africa.

The Festival of they year, Franschhoek Champagne Festival.

In the height of summer when Franschhoek is beautiful and the place to be. Come to the Champagne Festival for a short break before the whole of the country descends upon the Cape Province for Xmas. I am sure bubbly will be had everywhere in the Valley, as this is definitely the "Bubbly" festival of Franschhoek.

The main event will most probably again be held at the Monument Grounds in a beautiful White Tent, but there will definitely be tastings in and around the town as well.

Our new shop in town called WINES will have bubbles galore from near and far. Franschhoek the "one-stop" gourmet capital of South Africa is always worth a visit. Come and enjoy the "whole" of Franschhoek by spending a night or two in the village.

Accommodation for everyone's taste and pocket is available in town or on the outskirts. Take a lazy walk down the streets of Franschhoek and admire some of the lovely gardens you will be passing by. The town will be bursting at the seams, but this all adds to the atmosphere.

Ample parking in the church grounds gives everybody easy access to all the activities in the town as nothing is far away. All of Franschhoek shops, restaurants and pubs will be bubbling over to be at your service to make your visit and stay one of the most memorable there is to be had.

Take a drive up the mountain and see what Franschhoek looks like, it is breathtaking, or sit on one of the benches provided in the town and just watch the world go by.

Once again Franschhoek will stage one of the best open garden shows you could wish for. 10 gardens chosen from many more will actually be on show to the public. Already everybody is working very hard to get the gardens into ship-shape for the festival.

Some of the gardens are within walking distance of the centre of town and some on farms outside the village. Every garden is however easily accessible and parking is provided, if necessary. For those who visit the centre of town ample parking will be available at the Dutch Reformed Church from where one can visit all the activities in town, such as a plant sale, fresh produce on sale, stands offering various types of eats and food, as well as Wine Tasting at our new wine shop WINES, which is situated in the main road in the centre of town.

Come and spend both days in Franschhoek by booking into accommodation which will suit every pocket. There is accommodation available from 6 Star ratings to backpackers. Some accommodation is out of town and others in town which makes it a walking experience. The restaurants, coffee shops, pubs and shops are awaiting you.

By now everybody watches the Franschhoek Calendar for the next festival on offer. September is the month of spring and fresh new wines from all the wine farms in the valley and beyond. We now also have a wine shop in the centre of town called WINES where one can actually taste and compare wines from various areas in and around Franschhoek.

Many of the wine farms in the valley are part of the Franschhoek Uncorked Wine Festival 2011 on the 3rd and 4th of September, but the town itself lends itself to a complete wine experience during this time. Come and enjoy the all events that will be taking place.
